KALALAU VALLEY: Excursion into Eden
OK, OK. Just when the funniest thing you all could picture was Lil' Red being all outdoorsy. Well, this sly dog has got a couple of tricks up the ol' sleeve, I tell ya. Ah, I digress. Needless to say, we illegally took a Zodiac boat in where our measly 4 days of supplies and personal detrius was hucked overboard and swum to shore in some buxom waves. When we had dragged the last cooler full of margaritas and water and such onto the sand, I looked up to see the most incredible scenery and magickal energy that I have ever felt! Sparsely populated with campers, as most folks have to kayak over or undertake a gruelling and sketchy 9 hour hike to bear witness, we made ourselves right at home. Beach treks, dolphins every morning, gourmand eats, wild boars, baby monk seals (see cute-as-all-get-out photo), nude snorkelling with the ladies, bathing thrice daily in a ginormous waterfall, exploring the lush swimming holes and natural marvels in the valley itself and sipping rum under the stars. Could it get any better?? A MUST on the Hawaii checklist, for those thrillseekers among you.
No, there ISN'T an underground, awesome, driven and diverse radio station in the Valley, but there IS back in town! Rosa has a KILLER radio show on the incredible kkcr every Wednesday night dubbed The Loquat Lounge with all the muzak, freak out tunes and MommaRosa's wit that you need!! I was honored to escort her as CoHost and, let me tell you folks, there is nothing like two wacky ladies on the air to bring the perverts out of the woodwork! We had some special callers that night! Check out kkcr HERE.
